About

My full name is Borys Andrzej Musielak, but you can also know me as michuk or michux from different web forums, IRC and the Usenet.

I’m a programmer and a software designer which means that I code for living. Usually in J2EE (Enterprise Java) technology. I worked for companies like EO Networks, empolis Poland, CoCoNet AG in Warsaw, Poland. Currently I am employed by a London City-based Rule Financial as a technical consultant.

I created and maintain a few websites including Linux/FLOSS knowledge sites: PolishLinux.org (English), jakilinux.org (Polish), a social IT news site OSnews.pl (Polish) as well as a new film buffs community and movie recommendation website: Filmaster.com.

Personal profile

I am currently 30 years old. I live in London, UK. In 2004 I graduated from college. I studied computer science for 5 years in Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology in Warsaw. My master thesis concerned the implementation of full-text search engines in OODMS (object-oriented database management system).

I try to travel a lot. I spent a year of my life in Oscoda, Michigan, U.S. (as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange program) while still at high school. Later I studied in London for one semester at University of Westminster (EU’s Erasmus program). During my professional career I often flied to Dusseldorf, Germany (job-related stuff).

What else… Well, I’m a movie maniac. I watch lots of good movies and some lousy ones as well (just to have a comparison). Usually 1-2 of them a week. I love Kieślowski, Bunuel, Jarmusch, Tarantino, Herzog and many more (check out my film ratings here).
I like different kinds of music… trip hop, new jazz, some avant rock… usually all sorts of funky stuff that I’m currently keen on.

If you would like to contact me for some reason, take a look at the Contact section.
